BIOGRAPHY

Marie Logoreci Portrait

Marie Logoreci

Marie was born in Shkodër on September 23, 1920. Her father, Palok Çurçia, was a craftsman, while her mother, Roza, was a homemaker. Marie attended the "Stigmatine Sisters" girls' school, which included optional religious subjects in its curriculum, and later the Gymnasium of Shkodër. It was during this time that her early talents began to emerge; she was a skilled illustrator, a singer, and later began accompanying herself on the mandolin and guitar. About 20 drawings from this period have been preserved, testifying to a gentle, delicate spirit and a fine connection with her subjects.

In Tirana, Marie married Kolë Logoreci, who at the time had returned from Vienna after completing his higher studies in economics. From this marriage, their son, Pjerin Logoreci, was born. Kola served as the Chief of the State Budget and held the highest title of the time in Albania, "Knight of the Order of Skanderbeg." He was the eldest son of the patriot and linguist Mati Logoreci (Teacher of the People), one of the prominent figures of society at the time. During this period, Marie also took up cycling, often going on trips with her husband to Durrës and as far as Shkodër.

Marie Logoreci's artistic life began as a singer on Radio Tirana in 1945, where she performed as a soloist, live on air, in 20-minute programs featuring folk songs from Shkodër and central Albania. Meanwhile, she completed a one-year vocal course opened at the Artistic Lyceum in Tirana under the tutelage of Jorgjia Truja (People's Artist). She also began performing in concerts held in the capital on various occasions.

In 1947, she joined the State General Choir as a soloist, touring internationally. Her repertoire consisted of about 100 songs. In November 1947, she began her tenure at the People's Theater (now the National Theater). Her debut performance on the theatrical stage was as Jessie in "The Russian Question." Her first film role was in the Soviet-Albanian collaboration, "The Great Warrior of Albania: Skanderbeg."

Marie Logoreci passed away on June 19, 1988, in Tirana.
